Recognising
The precise recognition of a horse in just a few seconds, the
transformation thereafter in the few minutes of the first encounter, and the
subsequent careful transition to ground and ridden work, is the foundation
and heart of my work.
The sequence of the first encounter is always the same.
While one group did body awareness, the
other had three sessions, during which we
tried to intuitively recognise the potential for
experiencing magic with horses, our own
and others.
from What Horses Reveal
by Klaus Ferdinand Hempfling
1.
We must recognise the horse’s character and his individual way of
experiencing and behaving.
2.
Before the first step, the approach, we must already be moving totally
and completely in accord with this recognition. That requires two
things: firstly, we must be aware of the importance of our own clear
outward appearance. Secondly, we must be able to adapt very quickly
to what the recognised horse tells us about his nature.
3.
Then we must open the door. This should happen within seconds. I
emphasise that, because it is precisely this quick move into trust that
is our only confirmation that we have found the right key!
4.
Now I can carefully step into the ‘house’, which requires great care,
because it is not my own house. I am a guest in a fantastic, filigreed,
and unknown realm. Wounds and injuries are now visible and can be
healed relatively quickly.
5.
Only then can I get more and more acquainted with this ‘house’, which
develops through groundwork, through horse-oriented riding, and
simply through being at one with the horse.
